Put a little Aloha into your day with Zinnia!

People waiting at the airport

Aloha, from the Big Island! I have come to Hawaii in search of sunshine and warm water as a tonic for my winter-weary soul. And it’s working! While here I am conquering my fear of being underwater for extended periods of time and becoming certified to SCUBA dive. Tomorrow will be my first dive in the open water following today’s sessions where we learned to avert disaster from within the safety of a swimming pool.

At Zinnia we know that you might not be able to jump on a plane right now and head to Hawaii. And you might not be able to put an air tank on your back and slip under the waves in search of turtles, dolphins and manta rays. But our videos about Hawaii and Undersea Creatures might bring these to life for you. Reminisce with a loved one about time spent in the tropics, or enjoy, and talk about a beautiful place that you haven’t yet visited.

Here are some fun facts about Hawaii:

  1. Hawaii is the only state with two official languages: English and Hawaiian.
  2. The Hawaiian alphabet has only 12 letters. Can you guess what they are? The answer is: a, e, i, o, u, h, k, l, m, n, p, and w.
  3. Hawaii has the most volcanic islands in the world, including active and dormant volcanoes.
  4. Polynesian people settled the Hawaiian Islands between 940 and 1200 AD, and the sport of surfing originated with them.
  5. British explorer James Cook sighted the islands in 1778.
