Finding Fun on Zinnia and Managing Dementia Related Emotions

Through my work with Zinnia I was so lucky to meet Judy, a caregiver for her husband Tom. I’d been looking for subscribers to join a focus group and Judy responded. That led to a friendship, and now, once a month, Tom, Judy and I join up for a Zoom call where we talk about life, dogs, and things that make us laugh.

Recently, the talk turned to Zinnia, which Judy and Tom enjoy watching together. It turns out that Tom had loved a video that had, ‘something to do with fun,’ but Judy was unable to recall the name or find it again.

“How do you find a video when you can’t remember where you found it?” Judy asked.

That’s a great question, and I realized that other subscribers might also be unaware that it is possible to search for a video by title.

Whether you watch Zinnia on a TV, a tablet or a computer, you will find a Search option. On my laptop, I search by clicking the magnifying glass icon in the upper right hand corner. On my TV, where I access Zinnia using an Amazon Firestick, the Search option is on the left side of the screen, and it operates much like when I’m searching for a title on, say, Netflix.

On the Zoom call with Judy and Tom I shared my screen, and searched for ‘fun.’ There are so many choices for fun on Zinnia! Fun puns, Fun colors, Just fun, More fun, Having fun, Easter fun, Winter fun. Judy found what she was looking for, and more!

If you’re not sure whether we have a video related to a specific video, try searching for it! And if we don’t have what you’re looking for – let me know. We just might be able to get something for you.
