Are you Nuts about Squirrels?

I, for the record, am not nuts about squirrels.
In fact, I have a squirrel aversion. My issues with squirrels date back to my childhood when I somehow came to believe that if a squirrel bites you, it will never let go. For me, squirrels still conjure ridiculous images, like me, hurrying to the hospital with a squirrel locked onto my ankle. Hopefully I’d be able to enlist someone else to drive the car.

This is a photograph of my sister-in-law, Marya, with her brother and my husband, Evan. Marya was nuts about Evan. Proud and doting, she was the consummate big sister. They grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, where Marya still lives. Marya is also nuts about squirrels. She keeps bags of walnuts, almonds, filberts in her car so that if she happens to meet a squirrel while out and about, she’ll be able to offer it a treat.

Our latest Zinnia quiz was made in Marya’s honor. Check it out in the ZinniaTV Quizzes channel.
